Here’s another article on Stanford football that I don’t believe was posted here. It is written by Gary Cavalli, a Stanford alum and former Sports Information Director at Stanford. The article was written after the Oregon game. Several areas of concern in the article; namely, the excuse of the transfer portal and NIL money as reasons for Stanford’s failures on the gridiron, and the proposal for Stanford to join an “academic conference” which will no doubt send chills down Longwinded’s back.

My fundamental issue w our football team is we have gone from tough winners who were constantly trying to dominate our competitors to a team led by complacent coaches trying to justify their poor performance when it is painfully obvious to all how far we have fallen. We need a real shake up.

That's a David Shaw quote from a few seasons ago. I remember seeing the interview and thinking that it was an untypical thing for a coach to say.

Just a little different from Harbaugh saying that he was determined to plow the field, find the snakes, and cut their heads off.

I think the biggest thing that Shaw inherited from Harbaugh was a culture of fierce competitiveness, accountability, and player leadership, It no longer exists.

Coach, you are definitely not a motivator.
