Things To look for in season opener tomorrow

Here are the things I'm looking for in the season opener tomorrow -

Offense

1. How good is the O line in giving some protection to the quarterbacks?
2. Do we actually have a run game? Can anyone other than our quarterbacks actually give us run yards?
3. Does the depth in the WR room actually, show up at game time?
4. Can we minimize turnovers and protect the ball?

Defense

1. Can we actually defend the run?
2. Can our corners keep up with their receivers?
3. How many sacks can we get?

Besides winning the game, which would be nice. It would be great to see some progress on some of these other dimensions.

Football Bear Bachmeier...He's okay!

I got an update on Bear Bachmeier that will make everyone feel relieved: The 2025 4-star quarterback commit did not tear his ACL. I've been told that is incorrect. He will not need surgery. Knee was swollen. He'll undergo some therapy and recovery with the home of salvaging his senior season. He hopes to return in 4-5 weeks.

Football Recruiting West Spotlight: Four prospects on flip watch

Read that here. Adam Gorney mentions Bear Bachmeier as a possible guy to flip to Notre Dame if Deuce Knight flips to Auburn. Nothing to really worry about right now, I don't think, but still something to be aware of. I think if Notre Dame were to put the pressure on Bear, he'd still likely come to Stanford, but I also think he would at least entertain their offer. Which would make sense.
