F@ck USC

I know most of y'all are resigned to defeat this weekend, maybe even an uncompetitive one, but c'mon fans, it's the University of Scandal and Corruption!! And it is the last time, maybe for a long time. Let's see some enthusiasm!

I know many are older and have longer memories than me, but just in my lifetime, Chris Lewis to Jamien McCollum last play TD on 4th and goal from 20 to beat them in 2000. The 2007 greatest upset. The What's your deal?" game. The John Lynch pulverization game. The 2015 Pac-12 Championship game. The 2011 56-48 game. I could go on because there are more.

USC almost always overlooks Stanford, until they are the underdog and they don't. What better way to end the conference series against USC than ruining their season with a loss in a game they are favored by an absurd 29 points?

I' think I hate USC more than I do the Dodgers, Lakers, and Rams, so this game always animates me. I guarantee you the Stanford players are going to L.A. to WIN THE GAME. Why should the fans be thinking otherwise? Maybe Stanford will lose, but damnit the fans need to show more enthusiasm for this game!

Caleb Williams is the greatest QB they've ever bought, but it sure sounds to me like USC is reading its press like usual and not really focused on Stanford like Stanford is focused on them. A smart game plan that gets USC in a difficult game can create enormous pressure and a "OMG here we go again with Stanford" mindset that wills an upset to happen. I know the players were like 3 or 4 years old in 2007, but this kind of energy is real. History does repeat itself.

David Bailey, Ben Yurosek, and Josh Karty have the ability to be star performers that make an upset possible, and Ashton Daniels has the ability to maybe not do the spectacular Williams can, but play a mistake free, efficient game that keeps USC's defense off balance. Let's see some tricky zone defenses that put the Stanford brains to work confusing the Heisman winner who doesn't strike me as the sharpest tool in the shed, as much as a guy who win with his pure athletic gifts. I think he even knows this himself. Make him play Quarterback in the pocket and read defenses. Make USC receivers run precise routes. Play with force and determination USC hasn't seen and won't see this year.

It can be done. We've seen it before. So. LFG!!!

ACC math?

Help me out here, please.

I know that in MBB, the further a conference team goes in the tournament, the more TV money the conference gets. Are there other sports where that is true? I can't imagine it applies to, say, women's sailing.

How will the post season money work in the ACC? Will we get some of it? All of this is very murky to me.

Finally, beer and wine sold in the stadium!

I was hoping after it went well for baseball they'd do this, have been putting it on the suggestion form they mail out at the end of the season. The new online season tickets (only need to add to wallet once) are an improvement too.

Interesting factoid that came up in the Athletic

Clemson has the fewest number of transfer portal players, one. Dabo has been openly criticized for reluctance to use the portal and his stubbornness to update his offense. Despite hiring Garrett Reilly, people were not impressed based on the Duke game. Gist of the comments is that Dabo's taking down a dynasty.

Of course, the team with the most transfers, Colorado, had a good weekend. The team with the second-most transfers? Texas St, who took down Baylor.

Ironic that Shaw and Dabo are/were close friends. The hive mind at work?

TV money?

Not sure how all this works.

Does anyone know how much USC was getting before the move and how much they'll get in the Bi10?

Or how much we will be getting from the ACC?

I assume the money is all about football and, as best I can tell, our value bringing eye balls to the tv is pretty pathetic.

When is the Inquest?

Now that football season has started, and there are games to discuss, it doesn't change the fact that Stanford is losing $150M+ due to terrible management of its football and MBB programs.

Will Stanford launch an Inquest to find out WTF happened, why, how, who, is responsible, make recommendations for how to avoid a similar situation again, maybe even to improve its position?

It would also be cool for people who invest their time and energy into the programs that have sucked lately to know exactly what kind of performance the Board expects to see from them, and the role they play for the school. Don't know if that would be part of an Inquest report, but would be nice to know!

Football Recruiting Rivals Rankings Week: Breaking down the 2025 offensive linemen

Read that here. The most relevant Stanford recruit to the article is 2025 4-star OT Josh Petty, who was mentioned in the most recent recruiting thread for September. He visited Stanford in July and apparently that is his most recent unofficial visit. That's what the article mentions.

2025 4-star OT Michael Fasusi and 2025 4-star OT Rowan Byrne hold Stanford offers as well. Fasusi visited in June on an unofficial visit. Byrne hasn't yet gotten on campus to my knowledge.
