Alrighty, it is time for me to start a new football recruiting notes thread for October.
The September thread is here.
At this point, Stanford is shifting their focus towards the 2025 class. However, given how the season is going, they are still focusing on keeping the 2024 class together. They got a good group to visit over the weekend, most of which were 2024 commits. If you missed who that group was, it was posted at the end of the September thread. Those visits have also been added to their profiles, so you can check
the visitor tab as well.
One name to keep an eye on is 2024 3-star offensive lineman
Kahlil House. He visited Auburn over the weekend and said he is considering them again. It would be nice for Stanford to find a way to win at least a couple more games this year to keep the class at ease. At Colorado is actually one that they might be able to win. Colorado is kind of a mystery team and then Big Game is winnable, too. And who knows, maybe they find a way to surprise Oregon State or Washington State on the road. Not gonna be easy to do that, but I wouldn’t completely rule it out since those games are a bit further down the road.
I think if Stanford could win at a minimum two more games this year, that would help and it would be wonderful if they could win three more. I understand it’s not going to be easy to do that, but I don’t think it’s impossible. Just a shame they didn’t at least beat Sac State and/or Arizona. But this is where they are.
I guess this is all to say that the staff has some work to do it seems to keep the class together. All about sending the right message that this year is a rebuild and that it’s all about next year and beyond.
For 2025, the following non-commits are who they have gotten on campus for a game this season: offensive lineman
Joshua Williams (Sac State), tight end
Logan Brooking (Sac State), 3-star offensive tackle
Peter Langi (Oregon), 3-star tight end
Zach Giuliano (Oregon), 4-star tight end
James Flanigan (Oregon), and 3-star quarterback
Jaylen Johnson (Oregon). For Williams, Brooking, Langi, and Giuliano that was their first recorded visit on campus. So that’s obviously a group that they are trying hard with and also are making progress with as is evident by the fact that they got them to visit for a game.
As far as others who they’ll get out on a visit for a game later this season, that of course remains to be seen, but 4-star offensive tackle
Josh Petty and 3-star defensive end
Adam Shovlin are two guys who I would be very surprised if they didn’t visit given that they visited at the end of July. Stanford is on those two guys hard as well.
And then I would be shocked if 4-star quarterback
Bear Bachmeier doesn’t come out for a game. He already flew out to watch the Hawaii game. Bachmeier is the top target at quarterback and I do feel like Stanford has good odds with him, hence my early FutureCast. Given that Notre Dame is no longer in the mix for him, Stanford really does feel like the front runner at the moment, but they obviously still have some work to do.
I don’t want to just rally off the rest of the offers list, but suffice to say, anybody who hasn’t already committed elsewhere I think you can safely assume the staff is still on. And then even among guys who have committed elsewhere, the staff will be and is actively looking to flip guys. One name to keep an eye on that recently backed out of his commitment to Michigan is 4-star inside linebacker
Mantrez Walker. The staff I know has been on him hard.
So, there are plenty of possibilities in 2025. As more and more visits get recorded, that will really help us better get a feel and sense for who they are best building momentum with. Right now, the focus really is on getting more 2025 kids on campus and keeping the 2024 class together.
