Construction of Athletic Facilites at Stanford

Thanks to friends for updates as they work the WBB camp

Maples: work continues on the new locker rooms and all

Softball: Building a second deck plus locker rooms behind and under the stands and adding concessions. The previous locker room past the centerfield fence will be for Beach
The team will play the 2025 season in the football stadium. Home Plate will be at the tunnel down the line 190 feet

Tennis: the stadium I’m told has been flattened. I’m surprised I thought a roof over the stadium. So I don’t know more

And from the Stanford Daily

Next season, the Stanford men’s and women’s tennis teams will compete at the Arrillaga Tennis Center-Taube Pavilion. In December, the Stanford Board of Trustees approved construction of structural steel over the courts in order to protect them from inclement weather conditions.

This announcement comes in the wake of Stanford tearing down Taube Tennis Center and replacing it with the new Arrillaga Tennis Center, which is slated to be completed in early 2026.

“We are excited about the creation of the Arrillaga Tennis Center as a new home for Cardinal tennis,” wrote Stanford athletics spokesperson John Cantalupi. “One of a number of athletics facilities undergoing renovations, the state-of-the-art facility will allow for full viewing of matches on a dozen outdoor courts and include a new two-story tennis center.”

Women's Basketball Stanford WBB will play Ohio State at the Chase Center in December

Stanford women’s basketball will play Ohio State at the Chase Center on December 20th as part of a doubleheader that will also feature Creighton vs. UCLA. This will be my second time covering a game at Chase Center. The first time was Cal men's basketball vs. Boston College during the Mark Fox era. Hopefully Stanford will fare better than Cal did.

Team release is here.

OT: Harbs gets 4 yr show-cause penalty for UM cheating

Feel like he'd still have left for NFL after winning the natty even if this cloud wasn't looming...but not a good look at all for UM.

Is there anyone better than Andrew?

Needs to be AD asap and then Levin’s successor in training.

Hopefully, he’s talking to Tori Huske about returning and bringing some of that unspent Cañaday NIL money with him.

Football Recruiting Stanford football recruiting notes: July

Alrighty, time for a new football recruiting notes thread for July. If you missed any of the action from June, click here.

At this point, June official visits are over and now Stanford is just waiting for guys to formally announce. If you missed who visited, click here.

Three names to keep an eye on are 4-star OT Andrew Babalola, 4-star safety CJ Jimcoily, & 3-star athlete/wide receiver Christian Neptune. I got Future Casts in for Babalola and Neptune. And then Jimcoily is down to LSU & Stanford.

Babalola is taking his time, but Stanford is still in a good spot it seems. And then Jimcoily and Neptune, I could see going either way, but if he gets admitted, I have a hard time seeing Neptune choose South Florida over Stanford.

I suspect admissions could be explaining why some guys are taking longer to announce.

That’s the latest. If anyone has any questions, fire away!

A meme gif for my NIL exploration

Over the last couple months I have been close to the NIL world, and in particular, the UConn NIL Collective Bleeding Blue for Good. I had a conversation with the Executive Director a few days after UConn repeated as MBB champions. And I had another one with him last week. Don't know if I can ever recall hearing of something going from more manageable to more unmanageable in the span of a couple months. What I have seen has so turned me off of NIL collectives, that I am checking out of the space. If anyone wants details, LMK, and I'll be happy to share.
