Gabe Reid

Trigger warning: those who don't want to read about Stanford Men who are helping other Pac-12 teams grasp for glory rather than being one of the best players on Stanford's roster don't need to keep reading.

Gabe Reid missed Utah's first game while nursing an injury, eased back in with significant but not major snaps in the second game, and then had an expanded role on Saturday. Despite easing back in, he already has 1.5 tackles for loss. Among 477 edge defenders nationally with 40+ snaps, Reid has the #20 PFF grade (second in the Pac-12). Stanford's edge defender ranks: DiCosmo is #270, Herron is #291, and Bailey is #425.

Hoops - home opener on a Monday morning?

Ben, next time you interview one of the hoops coaches or anyone in the AD, can you ask why our home opener is on a Monday morning at 11AM?
There are no classes the following day Nov 8 which is election day, but Mon Nov 7 is not a holiday.
I do not want to pay for tickets for something that I no prayer of attending and will have a crowd about the same size as the "secret scrimmage" 2 weeks earlier.

Another Article on Stanford Football

Here’s another article on Stanford football that I don’t believe was posted here. It is written by Gary Cavalli, a Stanford alum and former Sports Information Director at Stanford. The article was written after the Oregon game. Several areas of concern in the article; namely, the excuse of the transfer portal and NIL money as reasons for Stanford’s failures on the gridiron, and the proposal for Stanford to join an “academic conference” which will no doubt send chills down Longwinded’s back.

"Hey, I'm not a motivator. I want motivated people."

That's a David Shaw quote from a few seasons ago. I remember seeing the interview and thinking that it was an untypical thing for a coach to say.

Just a little different from Harbaugh saying that he was determined to plow the field, find the snakes, and cut their heads off.

I think the biggest thing that Shaw inherited from Harbaugh was a culture of fierce competitiveness, accountability, and player leadership, It no longer exists.

Coach, you are definitely not a motivator.

All of the info for getting through the Covid protocols for Stanford home games

Two articles here (scroll down to find the second article):

The second article includes types of vaccination proof which are acceptable. I strongly recommend getting the California passport if you were vaccinated here. It will end up being necessary for a variety of activities in the future. Go to the following page using your cell phone:

After getting the QR code page, you can screen shot it and save it or you can download it into an app on your phone (such as Books on an iPhone).

If you did not use your cell phone as your contact number when you were vaccinated, it will not work. Ask your physician's office to change the number in the California Vaccine Registry to your cell number if this is the situation.

Here is the map of where the Covid "tents" are located.
