Baseball Recap: #9 Stanford BSB suffers Tuesday Heartbreak against Sacramento State

Read that here. Esquer gave a pretty fiery speech to the guys after the game. He wasn't happy about this one.

April Stanford Golf

Congratulations to Rose Zhang for capturing the 2023 August Women's Amateur title. This is another significant title for the world number amateur woman golfer since 2020.
Probably means she's closer to turning pro than farther away. Megha Ganne finished in 9th place.
The rest of the Stanford women's team including coach Walker were there to support Rose. I thought I heard that even Rachel Heck was there.

The Stanford men are in the final round of the Goodwin, playing this week at Harding. They are the highest ranked team in the event and are in 4th place. They have three solid players but can't find #4 and #5 that can provide consistent solid rounds.

Patrick Rodgers is in the lead by two shots with a hole to play in the 3rd round at the Valero Texas Open. It would be his first PGA win if he holds on through tomorrow. Brandon Wu is in 54th and Bramlett missed the cut.

Not a good weekend at the LPGA. Andrea and Aline missed the cut and Albane withdrew after the first round.

On the Korn Ferry, Isaiah Salinda missed the cut.

Basketball Recruiting WBB recruiting notes: April

Alrighty, better late than never. The women's hoops recruiting notes thread is here. The March thread is here in case you missed anything from that. In April, Courtney Ogden played in the McDonald's All-American game, which was cool. I still have that piece to get published. Just waiting for a convenient time to slide it in. Stanford also recently lost a key target to UConn (2024 5-star guard Morgan Cheli out of Mitty). That was a bummer. 2024 5-star forward Toby Fournier out of Ontario appears to still be in play. She has not narrowed her list further since releasing her top eight back in the fall.

And then as a reminder, 5-star post Kate Koval, 4-star point guard Shay Ijiwoye, and 5-star guard Jordan Lee all visited for the UCLA game. My article on Ijiwoye is ready to go, just gotta find a good time to publish that. And then I'll see if I can set something up with Koval and Lee as well.

Obviously with Lauren Betts, Indya Nivar, and Agnes Emma-Nnopu entering the portal, that creates some open spaces as well. I'll see if I can find out more about how the staff is planning to fill those spots. That's pretty much all I got for this month, but at least wanted to get something posted for this month.

Recruits no longer restricted to 5 official visits

  • The main change is that prospects will no longer be restricted to five official visits but will be limited to one official visit per school.
  • If there is a coaching change, a second official visit can be taken.
  • The rules will take place this August.
  • College programs still have a limit of 56 total official visits per year.
