Katie Ledecky led off tonight with an new U.S. Open (fastest time ever done in U.S by anybody of any sort of human species), NCAA (fastest collegiate swim ever), American (US swimmer), P12 (fastest time by any P12 swimmer in any meet), Meet (fastest at the P12 championships), and School Record (duh).

Katie went under former $c star and Hungarian Olympic champion Katinka Hozzsu's record by just 0.01, touching in 356.53.

Ella Eastin battled her the whole way, and was ahead after breaststroke, and touched under her own former American record.

Brooke Forde, Allie Szekely, Leah Stevens, Hannah Kukurugya, and Katie Glavinovich joined them to give the Cardinal a 1-2-3-5-6-7-10 outing in tonight's first event.

kal 4-13-14-21 in response.

Stanford lead grows from 101 to 220.

Back with other stuff later, but this was too good to not pass on.

100 Fly:

$c's Hansson wins in an excellent 50.17.

Howe 2nd (51.03), Engel 5th.

kal 3-4-6T-15-16.

lead cut to 190.5

200 Free:

Simone Manuel took it out hot (48.8) to build a 1 sec lead at halfway, but Katie is Ledecky and battled back for the win in 140.71, 0.07 ahead of Manuel. This just 30 minutes after setting an AR in the 400 IM.

Drabot, Pitzer, Voss, Meyers, and Volpenhein complete a 1-2-4-8-9-16-24 finish.

kal ends up with 3-7-21.

Lead swells to 276.5, which will probably be the largest margin tonight.

100 Breast:

$c's Riley Scott 58.81 for the win.

Was hoping for big things from Kim Williams this year, and boy did she deliver. PB 59.07 for bronze and the MR just got a lot better. Grace Zhao just missed the magic minute with a 100.04 for 6th.

kal 5-8-15-24. Unfortunately Ali Harrison just got fast and kal will be able to use her on the MR and anchor Weitzell v. Manuel!

Lead shrinks to 267.5.

100 Back:

Janet Hu with a massive underwater on the last lap to pass Kathleen Baker and win with a 49.93. Just the 5th woman under 50, and the 4th fastest, but not even a school record (Ally Howe AR last year 49.69).

kal 2-3-4-6-9-16 for huge points.

Lead cut to 156.5.

3 meter Diving:

Cook, Paulsen (from Menlo-Atherton), Farnsworth, Gardner, and Gallagher bounce to a 3-6-7-18-20 splashdown.

kal 9-11-16-24.

Cardinal up 194.5, with the exciting Medley Relay to go!

400 Medley Relay:

Epic Race.

Howe v. Baker. Williams v. Harrison. Hu v. Thomas. Manuel v. Weitzell.

Ally Howe makes up for lackluster opener in the 200 MR with a 50.21, just 0.03 ahead of Kathleen Baker.

Kim Williams monsters out a 58.61 in the breast, putting Stanford 0.48 ahead of kal.

Janet Hu with an excellent 50.38, but Noemi Thomas closes the gap to 0.30 with a 50.20.

Abby Weitzell crushes a 46 flat (!) for kal, but Manuel is 45.95 (!!) FTW.

Stanford sets all of the records Ledecky did in the 400 I.M., with a new standard of 325.15 (old 326.14). kal also under the old record (but wouldn't have been AR as Thomas is Canadian).

Stanford ends the penultimate night of finals with a lead of 202.5, and the T-shirt and hat people can start printing "Stanford--2018 P12 Champions" gear.

1650 and 100 free, 200 of back/breast/fly, and 10 meter platform diving tomorrow.

To honor TOS mantra: "We smoke these guys!"

Go Cardinal!!!
