South Dakota State's Jimmy Rogers has accepted a five-year deal to become Washington State's next head coach.

Rogers, only 37, coached South Dakota State to an FCS national title in 2023. He was the team's defensive coordinator in 2022, when they won their first FCS National Championship.

South Dakota State finished the 2024 season with a record of 12 and 3, with regular season losses to Oklahoma State, and North Dakota State (by 4 points). After winning their first two FCS Playoff games by wide margins, they again lost to North Dakota State, this time by 7 points, in the FCS Playoff Semi-Final round.

Washington State has an amazingly high mountain to climb, but if you need to roll the dice on an FCS coach, this looks like a great choice.
