Duke Kinamon will redshirt this year, according to head coach David Esquer. Kinamon didn't feel he could get over the hump to have the full range of movement that he did before the injury, so they're shutting him down for the season. Kinamon is a junior, so it's unlikely he'll actually make use of his fifth year, but at least it's an option.

In my opinion, it would have been nice for Stanford to get a healthy Kinamon back for the postseason, but the Cardinal are well past the point of adapting to life without him and obviously are excelling. Beau Branton, Tim Tawa and Will Matthiessen are all key reasons for why Stanford has been able to move players around and be successful.

Maverick Handley's is out at least three weeks and it didn't sound really hopeful that he'd be back by then. I think the earliest you can expect him back is maybe the College World Series. Christian Molfetta is probably going to be the new full-time catcher, but you may see Bryce Carter and Matthew Decker also get opportunities.

Erik Miller should be available this weekend and Esquer said he probably could have pitched Tuesday, but there was no need to push it. Miller has felt better throwing the past couple days and it didn't sound like a major issue going forward.

Brandon Wulff isn't quite ready to play right field but it appears he'll be able to at some point, which is different from the original plan to have him be the DH for the final stretch of the season. In the meantime the Cardinal will work to get him at-bats here and there while trying not to mess with the fact that Matthiessen is an All-American hitter right now.
