I've been getting press releases from Stanford about honors that incoming freshmen Maya Dodson and Kiana Williams have been receiving the past month. I was able to talk to both of them about what's happened since they signed with Stanford.

So, on the eve of the current team's NCAA tournament opener, here is an article about future Cardinal:

A couple other notes:

A possible comparison for Dodson to a current Cardinal is Erica McCall. Like McCall, Dodson will arrive as an athlete who can initially affect the game more on defense and with rebounding. Interestingly enough McCall and Dodson were both rated No. 11 overall in high school by ESPN Hoopgurlz. McCall has really worked to expand her offensive game (she didn't make a three until the last couple weeks of her junior season, and she's made 19 this year).

Williams said that assistant coach Amy Tucker told the recruits that the team is going to Italy this summer.

2018 recruiting

Dodson is friends with fellow Georgian and former U17 teammate Olivia Nelson-Ododa, who is the No. 1 recruit in 2018 and considering Stanford. Dodson said she's not really recruiting her friend to come to Stanford, but she talks about the university with Olivia.

Stanford is looking for a post player to fill out the final 2018 spot (Lexie and Lacie Hull already are committed). Canadian Christina Morra, Olivia Owens of New York and Oak Ridge, California Shayley Harris also are possibilities to finish the three-recruit class.
