As noted in the other threads, I was able to meet with Coach Shaw this morning to discuss a variety of Stanford recruiting topics. I will have several content items from our discussion up within the next week (I'll have limited computer access for the next day or so but will dive into transcribing later this week.)
In the meantime, several news items to pass along on fifth year/transfers/injuries/etc...
The biggest news item is that Stanford running back Remound Wright will be out for the first session of spring ball due to a disciplinary issue. He will return for the second session.
Fifth year players
JB Salem - not returning
Lance Callihan - not returning
Anthony Hayes - not returing
Charlie Hopkins - not returning
Evan Crower - most likely not returning due to likely transfer. Looking for a fifth year destination.
Kelsey Young - not returning due to transfer. No set destination yet. Similar situation to Crower as far as wanting a bigger role in the offense.
Ra'Chard Pippens - returning
Rollins Stallworth - back as a scholarship player
Alex Yazdi - still deciding whether to return
Torsten Rotto - not returning; looking for a place to land for a fifth year
Injuries
Aziz Shittu - Would be close to returning towards the end of spring football but Stanford won't chance it, so he'll miss spring ball. Still, Aziz is doing "great" in his recovery per Shaw, so seems optimistic that Aziz will be full go for fall camp.
Thomas Oser - Not sure if he's going to be ready for the second part of spring, at least doing something on the field. Oser's recover has been longer and more difficult than either side originally thought.
Brandon Fanaika - Likely ready to go for the first session.
Lane Veach - Limited in the first session but will be out on the field. By the time Stanford starts scrimmaging toward end of first session he might be full go. It not, he'll be fully cleared for the second session.
Ronnie Harris - Dealing with an unspecified injury and might miss all of spring. Something that has been bothering Harris that he fought threw at the end of the year. Shaw doesn't think it will require surgery.
