  • I don't like the way this QB competition is developing. Not because both guys aren't playing well but I see two guys who are performing at just about the same level. Neither one has been fabulous. Neither one terrible. The INT by Chryst was inexcusable. But then he came back and had a really good 2H. Burns has done some nice things but I don't see the separation to clearly be QB1 at this point. One guy is always going to be looking over the other's shoulder. What does Shaw do if his QB1 struggles in Game 1? I'm sure there are some varying opinions in the locker room. Was hoping one guy stunk, but both guys have been pretty good - really good at times. This is a very interesting situation.
  • Love makes pretty good defenders look non competitive. If you have a chance, take a look at his 24-yrd TD run. Alexander played it poorly but Edwards had a deep angle and never got close. Having two players like Love and Cmac is truly amazing. I know what guy has been more productive but I'm not sure who is more dynamic.
  • Scarlett is still underwhelming to me. Got hawked by Peter K in an alarming difference in athleticism. In what situation would you want Scarlett to push Cmac off the field? I know your answer - short yardage. And I disagree.
  • This is easily a receiving group who can play on a championship team. Rector is a scoreboard changer. Irwin is great. Beat Holder on THREE different days this spring on the same route down the sideline. Just ran by him, not by much, to make a great play. Owusu will be a really good #3 and has had a strong spring. Just not a bunch of opps for WR3 in this offense but you have to have that 3rd guy. JJAW is on schedule. Didn't see the red zone specific package for him yesterday that Treez Nuts was referring to but he should be fine down the road. Schultz is so versatile and Taboada just makes play after play after play....
  • Really liked the OL grouping of Hall, Bright, JB, Caspers, Tuck. A little surprised they would move Tucker to the right in that group. JB has struggled this spring snapping in the gun but should be an easy fix. The Hinds, Chaffin, Wilson combination had some issues as to be expected. Jordan Watkins is not complaining.
  • I did not like the fact that Pauir started the game. Thought that was a BS move. This is going to be a really interesting situation to follow as well. He is very good close to the LOS, but this is not a versatile DB. He lacks skills and length in coverage. I was also surprised that Buncom got the start oppo Holder. Not sure what exactly that means, if anything, but we have not seen him play ahead of Alexander or Meeks this spring. But the Holder/Meeks/Buncom combo is nice. Alexander and Murphy are not stiffs but a level behind. Reid and Edwards have not flashed this spring. I was expecting more but that is more on me than them.
  • I like Palma more than most people do. After that, we'll see. I imagine Noor would be next to him - I think, maybe. What two guys will separate themselves for time-shares from Perez/Okereke/Barton/Branch? Get to work, Hansen.
  • Mike Tyler has done such a great job with his body to be able to do all of the things Lance wants his OLB's to do. What a motor. I don't see a two-deep here, though. Looks more like 3 + Toohill, who still needs to put in that strength work that has benefitted Tyler so much. Would imagine Casey is on cover teams and gives Lance a series once/half.
  • Jackson is another guy that has made his body competitive and one of the most pleasant surprises of the spring. Really smart to move Watkins inside. Odds are against him having much of a role in the fall, but his limitations aren't exposed as much inside and leverage adv compensates for lack of strength. Cotton and Luke have not been real productive but will both get their chance in the fall. If Annan keeps adding strength he could have a small role sooner rather than later.
That was a great venue. Hope they keep it there.
