Spoke to JT's mom today - I've mentioned before that she works a few steps away from my office. She was 5 minutes late to the game. JT did not tell her he was starting. He wanted to surprise her with the starting role. She said she is never late, but hit a lot more traffic than usual. She walked in and he already had 5 points. The other fans had to tell her what was happening. She was incredibly happy that he got to start and played a lot. Happiest I've seen her since he got admitted to Stanford. Before the game Smith apparently told JT his primary assignment was stopping a future NBA guard from scoring. I think the scoring from JT was a secondary goal. He did pretty well until he got into foul trouble - but that is not a surprise considering how little experience he has at the college level.

Apparently these agents are everywhere. They have been on JT trying to get him to transfer for a while. She says there are many, many other people in his ear doing the same. She also says there is no way he is going to leave Stanford without his degree. There is a reason he is at Stanford.

She was surprised to know that everyone on the Stanford fan boards knows who he is. I mentioned that being a Stanford athlete makes you a known entity to many alums and other people in the business world, so having a good reputation in how you conduct yourself can help immensely in professional life.
