So you might recall that I mentioned some positive early buzz on Quenton Meeks and Casey Toohill, among others, in last month's best guess defense recruiting class post.
Kevin Anderson and Ronnie Harris represented Stanford at today's Bay Area college football media day. I asked both if any incoming freshmen had opened eyes during workouts.
Here are their responses.
Anderson: "Casey Toohill. He's a little skinny, he needs to put on some weight, but he's a freak athlete. He can just run for days. He beats every single person in conditioning. It's just unreal. He'll be good."
Harris: "From a young guy standpoint, I think the standout that I've had form the workouts is Quenton Meeks. Quenton Meeks is a very long guy, has great ball skills. He's another guy that's come in and is just ready to work, so i appreciate that from him."
Obviously it's still very early for both players, and Stanford has not actually held a padded practice since the freshmen arrived on campus, but this is another positive data point (in addition to what I heard from a good source a few weeks back) regarding the future of the two San Diego area products.
