Funny how much more of an open book Kyle Smith is than Frank Reich

A- Season Grade: Accomplished their mission of having a 'feel good' season, embracing the process, notching a number of wins. Fell short of the A grade because he wanted them to hang onto the Tournament bubble for longer and not fade towards the end of the season.

Maxime Raynaud: Said he's talked to 6 GM's already about Maxime, many of them for a long time. Sounds confident his game will transfer to the NBA.

Fading Late: He said guys wore down towards the end of the year. Mostly because outside of Raynaud, the other guys hadn't played a ton of minutes the year before in the program. Agarwal and Cammann sat out the previous year, Blakes and Sellers were bench players. Says with 11 returning players next year they will be better equipped to handle the mileage of a long season.

Returning Players: Okpara has had a huge spring, Cammann has added 10 pounds of muscle, Donavin Young and Evan Stinson have been hurt which we kinda saw during the season. Agarwal is hurt too I guess.

Sellers Replacement: He subtly mentions Dent-Smith and also hints there may be another guard on the way.

Next Year Goals: He wants to "stay relevant". Said what Saint Marys does gives him confidence. Seeing his old coaching staff from Columbia gives him confidence. He wants to be better than Top-80. Said the team will be more "flat" hinting that last year was very top-heavy.

My thoughts:

-Guys like Young, Agarwal, Stinson that we need to take huge leaps this offseason being hurt is certainly less than ideal
-Curious to know who he is talking about in regard to the potential Sellers replacement
-We will likely need a couple talented additions to realistically be top-80. Though he sounds genuinely confident which is great to hear

Addition: As I was listening to this interview while inside the Redwood City DMV getting my REAL ID I looked over and saw Kyle Smith's wife and their teenage son at one of the windows, presumably him getting his permit or drivers license. I'm not kidding.
