Bo's cousin co-hosts a podcast, and they interviewed him about Stanford and the transfer portal. This is a unique opportunity, as Bo is no longer with the Stanford football program, nor is he signed at USF yet. Thus he's able to talk freely. Worth a listen if you have 30-40 minutes. https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/peek-to-pitt/id1483500405?i=1000463207647

Some gleanings:

- Bo will get 2 years to play (he'll claim an injury redshirt, like Dylan Powell), so the Master's is getting fully paid for!

- Bo reached out to USF, not the other way around...entering the portal also gives you the opportunity to reach out to coaches. They responded to him the next day.

- Most interesting quote IMO: "There are some guys in the portal that will stay in the portal through spring ball, and once spring is over they'll know if they have a spot...or, on the other side, once spring ball is over, someone will know they aren't the guy, so they'll enter the portal"

- Shaw espoused the "explore your opportunities" narrative within the program, and they genuinely believe he has his players' best interest in mind...however, Shaw is "not a player's coach" in that he won't be your best friend, but if you ever need to talk to him/get advice/etc. his office is always open and he'll give it to you straight.

- Bo had shoulder surgery in October, so his lack of playing time wasn't a "healthy" scratch (though as we saw, it's not like he was very good in his limited reps before that)

- Guys in the portal can still use the academic resources available to the team. They can also use the football weight room and training facilities (including working with a PT guy) during set hours when the team is not there. (Hence, Eboh, Schaffer, and Pryts being pictured training with the team carries even more weight.) The one thing that annoys the portal guys is that they can no longer attend the student-athlete only "training table" breakfast.
