The Chronicle has a story on Luck that provides more information about how the role was created and what Luck has been doing. He's probably our best recruiter.

The article affirmed what we've heard multiple times before: this idea was entirely Levin's. I like this quote from Levin: “A great college football program can bring together so many people — students, staff, alums. Andrew appreciates all those different pieces.”

Community is the redeeming quality of sports, even when it's a business. I find fandom odd and extreme in many cases, but it can also be a wonderful way to interact with many different people. It's fun to cheer on people you respect, especially when they're members of your community (school) and share your experiences.

There's also a quote from Muir: “Football now needs even more attention than ever before, in light of all the changes. So for somebody like me overseeing 36 sports, it’s nice to have someone kind of working in the trenches day to day. And Andrew intimately knows this place, so that’s another benefit.”

I genuinely have no idea what Muir has ever done on a day-to-day basis with football or any other sport. I don't even mean that to be entirely snarky. I'm genuinely curious about his role in supporting all 36 teams.
