Just finished up the the first session of Stanford's all-positions camp. Probably about 300 campers are here, and as you might assume by the name, all positions (save kicker/punter/long snapper) are represented.

Here are some notes on the various position groups, with most of the top players listed by position. (Again, there are a lot of players out here, so I definitely could have missed a few of the top guys at this point. Will try to cover everyone important at some point during the camp.)

The second session of camp is this evening. I will have another recap posted late tonight, probably around 10:30 or 11:00 p.m. The third and final session is tomorrow morning.

Offensive Line

Henry Hattis - http://sports.yahoo.com/footballrecruiting/football/recruiting/player-Henry-Hattis-166161
Sterling Strother - http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-Sterling-Strother-171093
Dillon Reinkensmeyer - http://sports.yahoo.com/ucla/football/recruiting/player-Dillon-Reinkensmeyer-170001
Nate Herbig - http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-Nate-Herbig-169331
Clayton Demski - http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-Clayton-Demski-160814
Matthew Gutwald (believe he's nursing a minor injury - I didn't see him do many of the drills) - http://sports.yahoo.com/highschool/football/recruiting/player-Matthew-Gutwald-175159
Andrew Thomas (2017) - https://sports.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-Andrew-Thomas-162434
Brett Neilon (2017) - http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-Brett-Neilon-182946
Cody Kanouse (2017) - http://www.hudl.com/athlete/2714863/cody-kanouse

-Logan Bathke (2016 OL) was a notable no-show. Not sure if he will be able to make it out for one of the later sessions.

The offense line standouts should become more clear as the camp progresses, but a few early impressions.

-Henry Hattis didn't win every rep, but he won more than he lost (at least of the handful I watched), and he certainly looks the part of a player who could blossom into a top college offensive tackle.

-Reinkensmeyer looked quick to me, but I don't really have a strong opinion on his performance based on what I saw. Same deal with Nate Herbig, who's a very physically impressive kid. Both showed some good things, but it will be fun to watch more in the second and third sessions.

-Again, I didn't see every rep, but Sterling Strother struggled in the ones I did catch. He was pushed back in the board drills and lost two of the three pass rush drills I watched pretty decisively. There's a lot to like with him, but he's only been an offensive lineman for a year or two and is still growing into his body, so you have to take that into account.

-I didn't catch any of his reps (looked like the 2017's were separated from the seniors), but Washington OL Cody Kanouse probably has the best tackle frame of anyone in attendance. Just a massive dude for a rising junior.

-Andrew Thomas is probably the most high profile OL prospect in attendance - great offer list for a 2017. I honestly didn't figure out who he was until the end of the session, so I'll do my best to keep a closer eye on him in the later sessions.

Defensive Line

Jordan McGriff - http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-Jordan-McGriff-170472
Paul Finau - http://sports.yahoo.com/footballrecruiting/football/recruiting/player-Paul-Finau-153891
Tevin Paul - http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-Tevin-Paul-174717
Taheeb Sonekan - http://sports.yahoo.com/virginiapreps/football/recruiting/player-Taheeb-Sonekan-158277
Bryce Folsom - http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-Bryce-Folsom-170713

McGriff, who attended the Junior Day yesterday (as did Paul and several others), was the first defensive lineman to catch my eye just because of his sheer size. As one might expect, he just bowled over offensive linemen in the board drills, but maybe wasn't quite as effective in the pass rush. Tevin Paul and Taheeb Sonekan both won reps rushing off the edge in some of the pass rush stuff I watched, but I didn't get a good look at them in the board drills.

In general this is not a star-studded defensive line group, so it will be interesting to see if anyone emerges as a Stanford-level kid over the course of the weekend.

Fullback

Makai Manuwai - http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-Makai-Manuwai-177796
Evan Christopher - http://www.hudl.com/athlete/1739522/evan-christopher
Ryan Parker - http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-Ryan-Parker-156960
Parker Workman - http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-Parker-Workman-171505
Nick Kane - http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-Nick-Kane-172140
Korab Idrizi - http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-Korab-Idrizi-178698

-Stanford wants to take a fullback in this class, and the Cardinal have a number of strong contenders out at camp today. I didn't spend much time watching this group during the first session, but there's a good chance one of them earns an offer (assuming a player proves to be offer worthy) based on this week's camp.

-2016 ATH Jake Funk (http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-Jake-Funk-172698 is also out here. I'm not sure if he's working out at running back or DB - will try to find him during the evening session.

Linebacker

Erik Glueck - http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-Erik-Glueck-162701
Matt Tofano - http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-Matt-Tofano-177793
Mike Petroff - http://www.hudl.com/athlete/3044516/michael-petroff
Joey Ruiz - http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-Joey-Ruiz-172608
Ryan Boehm - http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-Ryan-Boehm-176804
Jonathan Van Diest (2017) - http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-Jonathan-Van Diest-170904

-Santino Marchiol (http://sports.yahoo.com/ucla/football/recruiting/player-Santino-Marchiol-162333) was expected in for camp but didn't show. Not sure if he will attend a later session.

-Didn't watch a ton of LB's during the first session. Will pay closer to attention to them (and will see if anyone else emerges) during the later sessions.

Others

-There really aren't any quarterbacks of note out here, best I can gather, anyway. 2017 tight ends Colby Parkinson and Jimmy Jaggers, who both project to be among the best in the country at the position, didn't make it out. Apparently Jaggers has some sort of minor ankle injury or something - I wouldn't be surprised to see him out at camp next month. I'm not sure what happened with Parkinson, though I guess there's a chance he could make it in for the evening session or tomorrow's morning session. Isaiah Brand-Sims' younger brother, Christian, returned to camp today after also participating on Tuesday.

-John Kirven (http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-John-Kirven-168179), Clark Yarbrough's high school teammate, is probably the most high profile tight end out here. Grant Carrigan (http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-Grant-Carrigan-162599) is another 2017 who looks the part (big frame), but I wasn't able to watch him during the first session.

-I should have mentioned this in the Tuesday recap, but there was another interesting WR out there who did well. I feel a little bit silly not reporting the name because he's been discussed on here before and I don't think his interest in Stanford is any big secret, but because he's committed elsewhere (albeit a non-Power 5 school), I don't want to discuss it until I connect with the kid and get his go-ahead. Will give him a call early next week.

-Did a bit of digging on the 2017 QBs at camp and my impression that the QB field at camp was among the deepest it has been in several years was confirmed. I wouldn't expect movement on an offer within the next few days or anything. Stanford will go back and review the film of the QB camp and really consider its options. Again, I thought Hunter Johnson was the best guy out there, and he's a no-brainer top-5 QB in the country, maybe No. 1. Also, apparently 2017 Florida QB Jake Allen was also really good when he worked out on Monday. Dylan McCaffrey is very physically gifted and got better as the day progressed - and he's very raw, so he's an intriguing possibility, and Georgia's Davis Mills was also good. So there are some possibilities, and is as always the case, Stanford won't rush it and won't offer a guy until they're 100 percent on him.
