Have done some digging this week and a few notes to pass along.

I will post the promised "Best Guess/Best Case" defensive class (to follow the best guess offensive class that was posted a few weeks back) later this week.

Walk-ons

Stanford has finalized its 2015 walk-on class.

The five players we have previously reported on are in the class.

TE Ben Snyder
LB Ryan Beecher
LB Lewis Burik
WR Gautum Krishnamurthi
K Charlie Beall

As previously mentioned, QB Zane Boles and QB/DB Mark Czeisler will end up elsewhere. The final possibility, DL Frank Voris, has decided not to pursue college football at this time. So it's those five in 2015.

Offers

As you might have noticed, Stanford is taking a different approach to sophomore year recruiting (the 2017 class) in this recruiting cycle than last. And given the accelerated nature of the recruiting cycle, that's a very good thing, in my opinion. They're now regularly viewing 2017 film along with 2016 film, where last year at this the 2016 class was not much of an emphasis.

This has resulted in several new offers - and, unfortunately, several erroneous offer reports. There have also been several new 2016 offers.

To sum up the offer activity from the last few weeks:

Legitimate new offers

Donovan Peoples-Jones (2017): http://sports.yahoo.com/bwi/football/recruiting/player-Donovan-Peoples-Jones-156325
*Jacoby Stevens (2017): http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-JaCoby-Stevens-157591
Nate McBride (2017): http://sports.yahoo.com/footballrecruiting/football/recruiting/player-Nate-McBride-166273
Leonard Warner (2017): http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-Leonard-Warner-166859
Dalyn Wade-Perry (2017): http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-Dalyn-Wade-Perry-177843
Mecole Hardman: http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-Mecole-Hardman-156934
Zach McCloud: http://sports.yahoo.com/miami/football/recruiting/player-Zach-McCloud-168914
Brittain Brown: http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-Brittain-Brown-163120
Trevor Speights: http://sports.yahoo.com/lsu/football/recruiting/player-Trevor-Speights-148600

(*I wasn't able to get 100 percent confirmation on this one, but it's highly likely that the offer was made. I'll make sure to follow up in the very off chance there wasn't actually an offer, but it's pretty safe to assume there was.)

Not currently offered

Tyreke Johnson: http://sports.yahoo.com/uga/football/recruiting/player-Tyreke-Johnson-156669
Jamari Peacock:http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-Jamari-Peacock-160643
Travon Fuller: http://sports.yahoo.com/tamu/football/recruiting/player-Travon-Fuller-162897

Junior Day

As we've discussed in the last few weeks, Stanford is going to host a really talented group of visitors on campus this weekend for their third Junior Day of the 2016 recruiting cycle.

I will provide a final/updated visitor list of who actually showed up on Friday or over the weekend, but here's what I currently have - most of the big names should be included here. We've discussed most of this list previously, but there are a few intriguing new names here, including Jordan Fuller, who's a big-time, elite national recruit who can pretty much go anywhere he wants.

The latest is that it sounds like neither Illinois DL Daniel Joseph nor DL Thomas Schaffer will be able to make the visit.

OL Matt Farniok: http://sports.yahoo.com/footballrecruiting/football/recruiting/player-Matt-Farniok-146452
DB Elijah Molden: http://sports.yahoo.com/usc/football/recruiting/player-Elijah-Molden-165570
DL Mike Williams (and several high school teammates): http://sports.yahoo.com/bwi/football/recruiting/player-Michael-Williams-158271
WR Javon McKinley: http://sports.yahoo.com/footballrecruiting/football/recruiting/player-Javon-McKinley-163031
S Chacho Ulloa: http://sports.yahoo.com/footballrecruiting/football/recruiting/player-Chacho-Ulloa-152856
DB Camryn Bynum: http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-Camryn-Bynum-165661
RB Sione Heimuli-Lund: http://sports.yahoo.com/ucla/football/recruiting/player-Sione-Heimuli-Lund-165194
WR/S Brandon Burton: http://sports.yahoo.com/usc/football/recruiting/player-Brandon-Burton-151989
WR Devin Duvernay: http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-Devin-Duvernay-156702
WR Simi Fehoko: http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-Simi-Fehoko-162762
DB Jordan Fuller: http://sports.yahoo.com/footballrecruiting/football/recruiting/player-Jordan-Fuller-142210
OL Matthew Gutwald: http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-Matthew-Gutwald-175159

(By the way, it would surprise absolutely no one if Simi Fehoko committed this weekend. And since Sione and Simi are very good friends and teammates, and because Sione also loves Stanford, it wouldn't be a complete shock if he became Stanford's first 2017 commitment this weekend, either, though he obviously has plenty of time to make up his mind.)

Chidi Okonya update

The only Stanford offer recipient with a set commitment date (aside from DB Robbie Robinson, but he's not committing until late July) is OLB/DE Chidi Okonya, who is expected to commit on Friday, May 15th. I do not expect the pick to be Stanford. (Probably Tennessee, but who knows.) However, I do expect Stanford to keep chipping away, so don't totally scratch him off your list yet. As it is with Tre Lamar, distance is an issue here, but if Stanford can get Chidi back on campus, it's anyone's game. I'm not sure how likely that is, but the Cardinal is a good fit here, and they've been making progress recently. (I honestly have no idea why Okonya is committing now, but don't be surprised if he ends up taking some more visits.)
