Observations:

* I only include marks that meet a certain minimum threshold so as to exclude outlier low marks that might result from somebody not having run very much track or from somebody competing in an event on a lark. I excluded a 400 time that was Cooper's sole race. I also didn't include a junior year 12.12 100 for Harris because it was his sole race. I really wish he ran track as a senior as I would have liked to get some indication of speed, but alas. I try to err on the side of information if I think it illuminates rather than clouds the picture but open to revisiting any of these decisions.

* We have a very obvious headline story from this year's track season: Elic Ayomanor's size/speed combo is phenomenal. That was already the defining feature of his profile considering he's accomplished almost nothing on the football field (and barely been able to play given injuries, pandemic, etc.), but our previous salivation over a 6-3 210 guy running a 10.99 100 and a 22.78 200 now gets to move into full slobbering. In the 100, his 10.76 is in the company of our true speed demons. He ran three races this year, starting off his campaign with an 11.17, running a 11.00 in the prelims of the NEPSTA Division I championship, and then running that 10.76 to win the championship. That build and that he did it in only three races is attractive. Similarly, the 21.66 200 puts him in the speed demon category. This is Michael Rector speed in JJ Arcega-Whiteside's body. And his one and only long jump shows it's not just straight-line speed but more overall athleticism - jumping like Fehoko and Higgins on the one jump recorded. We really have no idea if Ayomanor can play football, but this size/athleticism combo is truly crazy. When's the last time Stanford had a WR with that combo? Frankly, I also like just getting evidence Ayomanor is currently healthy as I have growing concerns about availability being a trait for him.

* My line on our WR recruiting all along has been that I like that we have a mix of Reuben's tremendous production and generally appealing size/athleticism combination coupled with a sense of untapped potential, what I just expounded on with regard to Ayomanor, and super walk-on Jason Thompson's tremendous production and profile as far as walk-ons go. If you're not going to get any 4-stars it's about as good of a bet hedging/base covering trio as one could hope for. Now these track results seem to further reinforce that point. I just talked about Ayomanor. For Reuben, his marks show solid athleticism (though no new information this spring on the track front, obviously, because he was at Stanford impressing on the football field). For Jason Thompson, I do not include walk-ons above but he has junior marks of a 22.46 200, 22' 1 long jump, and 47 '2 triple jump (better than any Shaw scholarship recruit ever and his second best jump would still be top three!). These are obviously signs of athleticism we would welcome with any scholarship recruit, much less a walk-on. As with Reuben, though, none of this is new information as it's all junior year.

* Aside from Ayomanor, the only real new information are the marks for Joshua Thompson and Fisher Anderson. Thompson solidified himself as a very solid, competitive athlete by Pac-12 DB standards.

* A particularly difficult inclusion/exclusion decision was a 12.24c 100 time for Tafiti. I kept going back and forth. Both the 100 and 200 for him are classic cases of marks to take with a grain of salt. However, he's a pass rush specialist and speed is a very salient data point for him. In the same meet, he anchored a 4X100 relay that clocked 45.98. I'm wrestling with what these data points tell us about his level of speed and whether we should put stock in them.

* I only note individual marks on these lists but it's notable that Collin Wright ran one race this spring as a senior and it was the third leg of a 4X100 relay that clocked in at 43.66. (I've seen a 23.05 200 reported for him but haven't seen it verified so didn't include above.) Perhaps @Bobbk or somebody else can tell us more about how to think about relays. 43.66 was slower than the team's prelim (which Wright did not run) and was last place in the Texas III-5A finals. Ayomanor anchored a 42.36 relay.

* I'm going to abide by the Thumper rule on Hudson.
