Stanford Press Release:

Adding a fourth member to its top-20 national recruiting class, Stanford men’s basketball has announced the signing of Maxime Raynaud.

“We are very excited to add Maxime to this program,” said Jerod Haase, the Anne and Tony Joseph Director of Men’s Basketball. “His ceiling is high and with proper development, he can have a huge impact moving forward. The skill set he has is extremely unique.”

A 7-0 center from Paris, France, Raynaud spent the last season playing for Espoirs Nanterre, where he has averaged 12.8 points and 8.7 rebounds per game. He participated this past winter in the Adidas Next Generation Tournament in Valencia, Spain, and finished in the top three in scoring, rebounding and blocks in the tournament for the best under-19 players in Europe.

Part of the France national team system, he won a silver medal at the FIBA U16 European Championships in 2019 in Italy. He attended the prestigious Lycee Henri IV, one of the top high schools in Paris, and is interested in astrophysics.

“He can score with his back to the basket, put the ball on the floor and make plays for his teammates, and can stretch the court and shoot from the perimeter,” continued Haase. “We are so excited for his future on the Farm, both on and off the court.”

He joins Harrison Ingram, a consensus top-15 recruit and McDonald's All-American, Isa Silva, a consensus top-50 recruit, and Jarvis Moss, a three-star all-around guard, in the Stanford class of 2021.
