If a coach reads this board, I hope this may help. Particularly focusing on the defensive front 7 here. Will update during portal-mania.

[h]DL[/h]

We know about the Harvard DL tandem of Jacob Sykes (27 tackles, 8 TFL, 7 sacks) and Chris Smith (40 tackles, 5 TFL, 3.5 sacks). Both first team All-Ivy and in the portal. Sykes seems like the hotter commodity.
UCLA and Notre Dame

Turner is a 3x Colonial Athletic (FCS) All-Conference 1st Team, and CAA Co-Defensive POY for the 2021 Spring season. He had 54 tackles, 10.5 TFLs, and 4 sacks this fall. In the Spring he had 19 tackles, 6 TFLs, and 3.5 sacks in just 4 games. CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team, eligible for Academic All-America honors. Dual major in Math and Music, and volunteers at Camp Hope for Children. P5s are starting to get involved. THIS IS A SLAM DUNK. HE SEEMS LIKE A PERFECT FIT. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE.
Wake Forest

Tevis started all 12 games for Cal and had 33 tackles (2nd on the DL) and 5.5 TFLs. Per PFF he got worse over the course of the year (after a torrid start), but still graded out much better overall than any of our DL rotation. He was named CoSiDa Academic All-District and has a 3.51 GPA, graduating with a degree in American Studies. His father and uncle, Mike and John Teeuws, both played football at Stanford. He attended Menlo School for HS (and was a very low-rated OLB recruit with Cal as his only offer). THIS SEEMS VERY DOABLE.
Indiana

Manning was originally a big-body DL before switching to OL. Started every game last year and played in 8 this year at OG. SEC Honor Roll this past season, graduating with an interdisciplinary studies degree and pursuing a Masters in education. Why not switch him back to DT? He's huge and can't be softer than DWP (having played OL in the SEC for 2+ seasons).
Kentucky - OL

Harper was a rotational DL averaging ~20 snaps/game for Cuse. Similar stat line to Ryan Johnson, but in way fewer snaps and PFF graded him much higher (but that's a loooowwww bar). 2x ACC Honor Roll.
Akron

Lichtenstein has had injuries and COVID affect his career, but in his first full season of heavy rotation (with 8 starts) he played a ton of snaps and graded better than our whole DL rotation. He totaled 28 tackles, 6 TFLs, and 4 sacks. Bachelor's in NGOs and Social Change. He's at the bottom of the list because we don't actually know anything about his college academic performance. He was a 4.0 student in high school, but was never Pac-12 All Academic. However, that could be because you actually have to play some snaps to be eligible for the Honor Roll, and he was injured/opted out for multiple years.
Miami

Sanogo had an insane freshman season with over 110 tackles, and had 60 tackles in 6 starts at weakside ILB last year, but looks like he was passed up on the depth chart by some grad transfer studs Kiffin brought in and played more sparingly this year (25 tackles). 4x SEC All-Academic among other academic honors. Bachelor's in managerial finance and pursuing an MBA.
Louisville

Montero had 60 tackles and led Rice with 9.5 TFLs this season. Had 11 tackles, 1 TFL, and 1 sack @ Arkansas. 3x C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll, and Rice Honor Athlete 2021 (that seems good). Bachelor's in Sport Management.
Villanova (???)

Gilyard opted to redshirt this season and grad transfer among a LB logjam. Started every game for UCF in 2019 and 2020. In 2020 he had 59 tackles and 8.5 TFLs in 9 games. Per PFF he is a fantastic tackler but abysmal in coverage. His size (5'11" 225-230) and this profile remind me a lot of Mustafa Branch (with much more production). Dean's List Spring 2021, AAC All-Academic in 2019. Majoring in Human Communications.
Kansas

Gant has played a LOT of football for Ohio State, but sparingly at LB. After a productive first game with 8 tackles against Minnesota he was basically shut down (just 5 snaps against Oregon) and entered the portal in September. A familiar case of a promising initial season without much development. 2x Big Ten All-Academic, majoring in finance.
Toledo

Abrams is a 2x Defensive All-American LB at Central State, a D2 HBCU in Ohio. In 2018 he had 118 tackles and 12 TFLs in 10 games, and in 2019 he had 84 tackles and 8.5 TFLs in 8 games. Sidelined with an injury in 2020. Obviously a major step down in competition, but the production is nuts. Central State Athletic Director's Distinguished Scholar Athlete Fall 2020 (GPA between 3.5-4.0) with a degree in Computer Science. GET. HIM.
No idea

Reeder was 2021 All-Conference at LB for Delaware, racking up 56 tackles, 7 TFLs, and 3.5 sacks in 8 games, including 7 tackles and 1.5 TFLs at Rutgers (their "marquee game" as an FCS school). He started out as a safety and earned CAA Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2017 before switching to LB later on. 3 year starter. Majored in finance with honors, getting an MBA and has a 3.5 GPA. P5s are starting to offer. Here's his highlight tape.

Iowa State

(MOST LIKELY NOT VIABLE)
Windmon moved from OLB to ILB last year and it paid off big time. UNLV's best player on either side of the ball, racking up 118 tackles, 11 TFLs, and 6 sacks under the wise tutelage of Pete Hansen (sorry, had to). UNLV Dean’s Honor List in fall 2020 and spring '21. Already has offers from a bunch of P5 schools. Michigan State and Texas in particular are after him hard.
All this said, I can't tell if he's a grad transfer, which means he probably isn't. It's usually easy to tell.
Michigan State - not a grad transfer[/B]
