I’m calling it tonight, with 80% confidence: David Shaw will not be back as Stanford football coach in 2023. I’m making that prediction, in part, on the logic of multiple losing seasons….but also because someone I trust believes that inside pressure/scrutiny is greater than we commonly assume here. I don’t know if he will be fired or slip away with some type of mutual agreement, but he will not be following up another 3-9 season.
And that’s my new number: 3 wins, down from 4. The offensive line injuries reduce the chance of shootout victories. I see ASU and UCLA as the only winnable games left. We could outperform to 4 but 1-11 is equally in play. No matter. He won’t survive 4, imo.
