Sorry to post this as I love David Shaw, but does anyone else get the sense that this might be Shaw's last year at Stanford before the NFL?
2018 should be an exciting team with potentially a McCaffrey-Hogan-like convergence at QB-RB, and potentially a very big season. Should the guys have success, this would be a good time to move on.
But it's the really lackluster recruiting in classes of 2018, 19, and 20 that have me thinking this way.
I'm the same age as coach Shaw and I can relate to the "last chance at greatness" siren song he may be feeling after 8 successful-but-maybe-nobody-will-remember-me years in his current job.
Please convince me that my fears are unfounded. Thanks.
