Several NCAA tournaments are in progress- Men's Soccer, Women's Golf, Field Hockey and Beach VB.
Selections for Women's WP (5/3), Men's and Women's Tennis (5/3), Men's Golf (5/5), Softball and Baseball selections are much later in the month, but both teams are very likely to be named. Women's WP lost to SC in the MPSF championships. We were ranked #2 and USC was ranked #1. Stanford and USC are the only teams to win the NCAA WWP championships the last 10 years (Stanford won 6, USC won 4)
Men's Soccer advances to round 3 after a 1-0 win over Omaha. Stanford outshot Omaha 25-2, yet had to go to overtime for the win. Men are seeded #4 and face #14 seed UNC on Thursday.
Women's golf will tee it off a the Stanford Regional on May 10th.
Field hockey lost 2-0 to UNC in the quarterfinals. I think this may be the furthest they got (and another of the 11 cut sports.)
Beach VB is in the NCAA tournament for their first time ever!!! Stanford is seeded #6 and will play Florida State on 5/7.
In Women's Volleyball and Women's soccer, we weren't in either of the covid tournaments. When was the last time a defending champion didn't even make the field for the following tournament, albeit a reduced number of teams for each.
Although not an NCAA championship sport. sailing has the Women's championships on 5/19 followed by team and co-ed later in the month. They swept their league championships. The PCCSC has twenty teams including 7 of the UC schools, USC, Hawaii and ASU (where do they sail in Arizona!!!)
