The highlight of my day today on the Farm was meeting Andy. I got a chance to exchange a few words but it was quick because he is so busy and everyone wants a piece of his time, mostly parents of the student athletes. The low light was dropping a wayward punt. The ball sailed out of bounds and over the fence I was leaning against and I had a perfect chance to make the catch but dropped it, always had bad hands that is why I played DB.
As for the practice, although it is sometimes hard to tell if our offense was great or the defense was bad on most plays I was impressed with the team overall.
One of the first plays was a perfectly thrown ball by Hogan that hit Owusu in stride for a TD, the DB was beaten but not by a lot so the ball had to be right there and it was. Hogan in general looks really good to me. His timing and accuracy on most plays was superb.

Hooper is a beast and looks like he is going to have a huge season and Cotton also made some nice plays. Shultz didn't get a lot of action but you can tell he is very talented. As mentioned above Owusu playing in place of Cajuste played well as did Rector. I wish Irwin could have got a few more passes on the one play he caught a pass he put on some moves to get him about 10 additional yards.. JJ Whiteside is a big target not sure he plays this year but he looked much bigger than even some of the olderr players.

I thought Shittu and Scarlett both showed they could dominate, in fact ironically I was watching the scrimmage with Scarlett's Mom who was only worried about her son when he had to tackle Cameron, another irony is she was in a walking boot, it does run in the family. But defensive line played well, Shittu broke thru on a few occasion for big tackles for losses and Harrison played Parry's role well too. They are thin there but with the rotation they were using without injuries they should be fine. Unfortunately Luke K didnt offer much.

I wasn't able to follow the linebackers too closely other than Okereke was in the mix even though he looks so small compared to the other LBs. .Alfieri and Tyler look good too.

The DBs look pretty good. Harris is obviously the guy at one corner and Terrance Alexander is going to be on the field a lot as a corner or nickel. Holder and Murphy also look like they could play right away, but the guy that I was impressed with the most was freshman Quentin Meeks, I know Irwin is supposed to be a great route runner but Meeks was on him and never let him separate once, when he wasn't on Irwin he held his own against the other wideouts. He is so tall and rangy i think when all is said and done he could be the other corner. At safety i thought Ben Edwards looked good he made a nice interception that he returned for a TD that was called back and made a hit on Wright on 4th and 1 that stopped Wright in his tracks.

I didn't follow the O line a lot but it seemed like Caspers was having trouble at the center position and they ran Schuler in for him on a few occasions, maybe Andy can elaborate.

Bryce Love was fabulous, he had one run of 50 yards or so where he cut on a dime and left everyone behind as he raced away. I hope he gets to play this year he could be a very good weapon giving Wright and Mac a break, unfortunately I don't see Barry L doing much.

My biggest take away was backup QB. I don't see why it is close. Chryst in my opinion threw the ball really well. His best pass came on a play he was touch for a safety but the play continued and he hit Tabota along the sideline with a perfect 20 yard out. He also seemed like he got them in the right play and his timing on pass plays looked really well. Burns on the other hand over threw receivers all day, down the middle to the tight end or even a simple bubble screen he over threw the receiver, he made some nice passes but I don;t see why this is a battle of course this was just one day. Burns reminds me of Josh Nunez.

Andy it was nice meeting you and I look forward to your write up.
