The Opening, which is a Nike-sponsored showcase that includes 166 top prospects from the 2017 and 2018 (and one 2019) classes, will be held this week in Oregon. A number of Stanford targets will participate in the event - there is both a 7-on-7 competition and an OL/DL event.

Matt posted a terrific breakdown of Cardinal prospects in a recent thread. For those who missed it, here's his post:

Alpha Pro: Okudah, Warner, Foster, Molden - really high beta/potential to build momentum for the elite end of our defensive class, but also not exactly the most obvious Cardinal evangelizing group and this is quite obviously Team UGA, which is highly troublesome when it comes to Warner. Okudah will have a tOSU guy in his ear. [Commits: Florida State, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia, Georgia, Georgia, Georgia, Miami, Ohio State, Wisconsin]

Defensive Line: Phillips - welp, the white whale for many of us will be playing on the same defense as fellow UCLA commit Hunter Echols [Commits: Florida State, Florida State, LSU, Maryland, Ohio State, TCU, UCLA, UCLA, Washington]

Fly Rush: Browning, Parkinson, Mills, Britt - do work boys! I have pretty much given up on Browning but he'd be one of our biggest ever recruits and we could hardly ask for a better group in his ear, though Texas and TCU also have advocates and, in any case, it really doesn't seem like he's ever considered us. Love that Britt picked the team with two public Stanford commits! [Commits: Oklahoma State, Stanford, Stanford, TCU, Texas, USC, USC]

Hypercool: a couple of people we've offered but nothing I've heard about as promising (FYI, this is Dylan McCaffrey's team) [Commits: LSU, LSU, Michigan, Michigan, Michigan, Michigan]

Lunarbeast: ditto [Commits: Arizona, Ohio State, Ohio State, Ohio State, Ohio State, Ohio State, Ohio State, Syracuse, Washington, Washington]

Mach Speed: Ahmed, Holmes - hopefully Ahmed really likes us and really gets along with Holmes! Glad there are no Oregon, UCLA, Nebraska, USC, etc. commits on the team. [Commits: Clemson, Clemson, Ole Miss, Penn State]

Offensive Line: Sarell, Little - seems like it could be good to have them paired together with no Washington, Notre Dame, or Ole Miss commits, though a Texas commit will be there. [Commits: Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, LSU, LSU, Ohio State, Ohio State, Texas, Texas Tech]

Vaporspeed: Not going to comment on the possibility of a WR flip, just going to point out all those OU commitments bonding.... [Commits: Alabama, Alabama, Alabama, Alabama, Alabama, Oklahoma, Oklahoma, Oklahoma, Oklahoma, Oklahoma, Oklahoma, Oklahoma, Oklahoma]

The 7-on-7 and OL vs. DL competitions won't begin until later in the week, but some players arrived at the event today and more will filter in tomorrow. Feel free to use this thread to post any social media updates and then any observations/thoughts/comments once the competition gets underway, and I'll do the same with anything I spot.
