Ari Patu announced his commitment to Stanford. He is the first 2021 commit for Stanford.
Stanford's 2021 quarterback recruiting process has been discussed at length on this forum and elsewhere. The Cardinal have their man now and this is obviously a great moment for Patu.
There is a lot that is unknown about Patu as a prospect because he hasn't played a full season of high school football since his freshman year. He suffered an injury early during his sophomore season and was the backup at Folsom last season -- getting a lot more mop-up duty time than most backups because of Folsom's often lopsided scores.
Patu appears to have all the physical tools needed to develop into a quality quarterback. Stanford is banking on that happening in a couple years.
