I’m calling bs on the call taking away BT’s td catch. His left toe clearly touched down in bounds first. There is nothing in the rule that suggests the convoluted interpretation (foot landing in one continuous motion) we were fed by the ref and tv commentators. The relevant language is:
“Touches the ground in bounds with any part of the body…” [Rule 2, sec. 4] (Harken back to Ertz’s td reception vs Oregon where his back touched down in bounds just before rolling out.) I was unable to find anything in the “Official NCAA Football Rules Interpretations” that modifies this language in any way. Can anyone find any justification for this call?
