It's a good class for Stanford at that position and a couple of the recruits could plays defense. Jack Pedersen has the ability but probably prefers offense and Ryan Otton is being recruited by a couple schools to play either tight end or defensive end.
When you consider how difficult it will be to get Donovan Green out of Texas and that Stanford won't sign a true tight end in 2021, then this approach for the next cycle makes sense. And it's not as if Stanford hasn't taken three or more tight ends in a class before.
