I've been making some calls and a few recruiting tidbits to pass along.

-Stanford has offered a few prospects over the past few months who have not actually publicized their Cardinal offers: Florida DL Dexter Lawrence. Stanford actually offered Bosa a while back, but there's no need to get your hopes up on that one - he's most likely going to go to Ohio State, and if not Ohio State, it doesn't sound like Stanford is all that likely.

Lawrence is a former teammate of Bryce Love I will give him a call soon to learn more.

I've also heard Stanford has offered a prospect committed to an SEC school (working to get more information). Additionally, I've heard that there is substantial interest in Michigan OLB/DE Khalid Kareem and that an offer is likely.

-I've said it before, but just in case anyone missed it: Stanford did not offer 2017 quarterback Bailey Hockman. They do not currently have any 2017 offers out.

-That said, how's this for a potential 2017 offer recipient: Texas linebacker Baron Browning - the younger brother of former Stanford DB Barry Browning. 247 ranks Baron as the No. 1 ILB in the entire 2017 recruiting class and he already has some nice early offers. The Cardinal hasn't really done much in the way of recruiting the 2017 class at this point (including Baron), and I'm not sure what his academic situation is (though Barry was a strong student), but obviously the family connections make this one to watch. I'll try to get in touch with Baron for an article soon.

-Obviously onetime Stanford walk-on QB target TJ Green's commitment to Northwestern was not great news for Stanford's quarterback depth, but the Cardinal is pursuing another 2015 walk-on QB prospect, and he's certainly a viable candidate. I'm not able to go into details at this time, but did want to pass that along. As for the rest of the walk-on class, kicker Charlie Beall remains the only commit, but there are a number of other prospective walk-ons in the admissions process.

-Nothing new on the Brennan Scarlett front. As I've previously reported, he remains an option for Stanford (despite what was reported in a relatively recent San Francisco Chronicle article), but nothing is finalized either way.

-I've spoken to several very good sources in the last week or so on K.J. Costello and nobody I've chatted with has a great sense for it. There has been a lot of optimism about the Cardinal's chances at various times, and there's been concern at other times. KJ's public comments have even been a little bit all over the place - he says he knows where he wants to go and that a decision is imminent in some interviews, he says he needs to take more trips in others.

At this point I tend to agree with many of you that K.J.'s public comments towards Stanford have been favorable - and gun to my head I would project him to the Cardinal - but there's just not a great feel for where he stands behind the scenes, and I still can't report/project anything with confidence.
