Yep, I watched another one. As part of my journey to imagine what I want Stanford's revival to look like, I watched the 2008 Big Game.

My thoughts:

Watching how much we did to create positive plays in the passing game feels very alien to me after the last 11 years. We got guys wide open on some plays against a good Cal team held back by its quarterback situation (Kevin Riley and Nate Longshore rotated through the whole season!).

Three trips by the offense inside the Cal 10-yard line in the first half and we came away with three total points. Brutal. And it's even worse because Stanford started the game tied at No. 1 in the FBS for red zone offense.

I stopped watching early in the second half when a series of events led Cal to put the game far out of reach. I think Stanford was the better team in the first half and could have led 21-10 at the break. We were almost there.

So, once again I say take heart in these videos of a team capable of going to a bowl in the second season after going 1-11. We can do it but first we need to ace this off-season.
