What jumps out first is his power. Hints of Ty Montgomery. Ty has the faster top end, but Long may have the faster first three steps. His zero to five is exceptional.
Also looks exceptional in coverage. He thinks like the receiver that he is. And his power could be a great asset as a press corner and nickel back.
I don’t see route-running here. I can’t find a square out; everything is a slant, skinny post, or bubble (he could be a good bubble guy for us because of his initial burst and power to break the first contact.) But if he can’t run a crisp square out, the defenders will over play the inside on him. To be a star college receiver, he needs to be able to threaten the edges.
Not long, so he’s not a big target, and likely not a six-plus catches per game, move the chains receiver, at least from what he shows on tape.
A very good DB prospect, and his speed and power make him a good special teams candidate.
Overall, he struck me—oddly—the way Jordan Richards, a longer and leaner guy, did; he moves with the fluid strength of a very good skill player, but with his exceptional zero-to-five burst and at least a second faster top end.
A little bit of Montgomery, a little bit of Jordan.
Not a bad combination.
