With Foster Sarell's announcement Saturday at the Army All-American game that he would attend Stanford, the Cardinal are poised to finish with a historic pair of tackles, who some consider to be the two best players in the country. The play of Sarell and Walker Little this week and in the game shown a bright spotlight on Stanford and gave the Cardinal a remarkable amount of good publicity.

It's the second time in recent years that Stanford earned the commitment of premier left tackles who didn't mind being in the same class. While Stanford's success on the field with offensive linemen was a significant factor, so was the character of Sarell and Little.

Little and Sarell have become good friends and were roommates at The Opening and in San Antonio. Also, they are intensely competitive and don't view Stanford's depth chart as a deterrent. In fact, it's the opposite.

Both elite tackle prospects have been admitted for months and resisted the temptation to stay close to home at Texas and Washington, respectively. Sarell had a front-row seat as the Huskies played their way into the college football playoff, possibly creating an easy choice to play for a rising program at a good university.

But Sarell was always a strong lean to Stanford and there was even talk at one point that Sarell and Little would commit on the same day to "shock the world."

It may not have happened the same day, but it's safe to say that Stanford continues to shock the recruiting world with an ability to land elite prospects. But the group of Cardinal in San Antonio is a collection of offensive talent that has potential to stand alone in recent Stanford recruiting history.

Stay tuned for more coverage this weekend about the impact of Sarell's commitment on the class and the future Stanford depth chart.
