I suspect most of my observations have been made elsewhere already because they are pretty much obvious.
Still, here are my reactions:
1. Maybe giving up 31 points seems like the defense was not so good but I feel otherwise. Defense was great. Yes, we had the safeties deep, deep, deep. Unlike USC where the safeties were up 5 or 6 yards beyond the line of scrimmage. But our guys kept everything in front of them.
2. Not a big Wright fan but he had a great game. And the staff used him exactly right.
3. Not a big Hogan fan, either, but if he plays like that the rest of the year, we'll be national champions. He was spectacular.
4. Brilliant use of Love as a decoy. The 4th quarter play where Hogan looked left to a sprinting Love and then came back right to McCaffrey with blockers in front of him for a 22 yard gain was utter poetry.
5. Why can't they get the plays in on time? It isn't fair to our players. Hogan deserves better. It isn't as if this is something new.
6. Great game by the OL. How come? They jelled? Remains to be seen.
Conclusions: A. We have plenty of talent, particularly at TE. B. Our defensive coaching is brilliant. C. Our offensive coaching is suspect, but they had a good week.
