Read that here. I had a lot to say about this one. For starters, credit Arizona for dominating this game. Stanford came in undefeated at home notching impressive wins over Oregon and then-No.5 USC. Easy to call this an embarrassing loss for Stanford, but that's not giving enough credit to Arizona. They played really well in this one and looked like a legitimately elite team. We could see them in the Final Four. They're that good.
Even with all my praise for Arizona, Stanford obviously has to be disappointed to get waxed like this. They just need to make sure this doesn't lead to a downward spiral. Bouncing back against Arizona State on Saturday is paramount.
Lastly, I didn't pull any punches when addressing the officiating. It's not an excuse for why Stanford lost. I thought Arizona figured out a lot sooner than Stanford that the refs were all in on calling charges. Credit to Arizona for figuring that out. But that shouldn't be an element of the game to begin with. I don't want to rehash everything I said in the recap about the officials, but let me just say in this board thread post that I felt compelled to say something about it. It needed to be called out and I felt a moral obligation to do so. If it wasn't going to be me, nobody else was gonna do it.
Let's see what Saturday brings us.
