Alex Carter Q and A

First, how do you think everything went out there today?[/I]

I think it went well today. I had a good time, last time out there with the guys so we were just trying to enjoy it.

I'm sure you've gotten this question about 1,000 times, but what factors, what was the decision criteria for you to come out in the draft this year?

I talked it over with my family. It was something that we've kind of been thinking about all year. We just feel like it was the right time for me to take that next step. So, I was ready for it.

What times were you clocked at today. What feedback did you get on that?

I think my fastest time was a 4.38 to, like, a 4.42. In that range.

What was the emphasis in the last month since the combine and are you happy with how everything turned out?

I am happy. I was just trying to work on some speed work. My time at the combine wasn't what I wanted. So I was working on that for the past couple of week, getting flexible, trying to be loose in my backpedal, all my DB stuff, so just working on that.

What sort of feedback have you been getting form the scouts throughout the process?

It was pretty good today. A lot of people seemed to like me. Good technique, the size, the speed. So we'll see what happens on draft day but I'm looking forward to it.

Obviously you played corner your entire career here. I'm assuming that's where most (NFL) teams like you. But has anybody talked to you about safety? Has that ever come up?

You know, they haven't. I've asked a couple of coaches whether they see me at corner, safety, nickel, and they all said corner. I feel like teams are looking for that bigger size DB to play outside at cornerback.

You obviously played for two pretty well respected defensive backs coaches during your time here. Off the top of your head how you would say their styles compare? What did you learn from each of them?

Definitely with Coach Mason I learned how to be a technician. He worked on the fundamentals - our stance, how we align. So we learned all the basic skills with that. Coach Akina came in and kind of opened our eyes and taught us how to see the game more, how to understand alignments and splits and play football. They're both great coaches, necessary tools from both of them that I learned.

During your three years here is there a single moment or a few moments that really stand out as a highlight of your career?

I don't think anything can beat winning the Rose Bowl as a freshman. That's it right there.

James Vaughters Q and A

I think it went well. Everything we prepared for the most I feel like I did well in and all my other things I feel like I stayed up to expectations on.

You put up a huge number on the bench. Is that something you kind of expected, has that been an emphasis for you?

Well the thing is I've been able to put up 29 reps on days where we're not just training for the combine so I assumed that once I got the opportunity to just train for combine exercising and measurements that I'd eventually be able to get that much. I wasn't expecting 35. I was expecting more around 32 or something, but that was good.

What are scouts and teams telling you as far as your position? Does everybody see you as a 3-4 outside backer or some versatility there?

Because I have so much film at 3-4 outside linebacker I feel like a lot of them see me there but they say that versatility is key as far as longevity in the league. So they're just saying (be) as versatile as you can get, that's the best you can do.

What's the biggest piece of feedback you've gotten from those guys throughout this process?

That.

Just the versatility?

Yeah.

Finally, you played here four years, played a lot football. Is there a moment or a few moments that kind of stand out to as a highlight of your career here?

All the big wins really stand out going back over the years. (But) more just remembering the good times with my teammates.

(Brief) Ty Montgomery Q and A

What times were you told that you got out there today?

I heard one 4.28, a 4.38, a 4.42. On the other hand I heard a 4.55 and a 4.50. So, just whatever, they were a good number, low-4.4's, high-4.3's.

Going back to the combine, how did you think everything went there? And what was the emphasis for you over this past month?

Well the emphasis over this past month was my flexibility, dropping a little bit of weight. I was at my playing weight, which wasn't too heavy, but I got a little stiff so I had to get my stride length back, my flexibility. I dropped a little bit of weight. I felt like I could run all day. I felt fast, I felt explosive. I felt good.

What sort of feedback have you been getting from the NFL scouts throughout this process?

Just keep it short and sweet: Just a great job, great overall day, very impressed, and they're very happy.
