OK,

I now feel comfortable will a full fledged thread on who Stanford can target to replace Haase.

I did a cursory search of D1 coaches who have done a good job and places that, theoretically, should be tougher to coach and win than Stanford. Here’s my list. This is hardly exhaustive and I’m sure there are plenty of names here who have no interest or aren’t good fits, but I wanted to get the ball rolling.

These are in approximate order of preference:

Ed Cooley (Providence)

Randy Bennett (St Mary’s)

James Jones (Yale)

Steve Pikiell (Rutgers)

Brian Dutcher (SDSU)

Matt Langel (Colgate)

Anthony Grant (Dayton)

Mark Madsen (Utah Valley State)

Joe Pasternack (UCSB)

Robert Jones (Norfolk State)

Cooley and Bennett are my dream targets, but likely not realistic. James Jones at Yale seems like a great fit. Pikiell has won at a place where it’s super hard to compete in the B1G. Dutcher impressed me in the Stanford game this year. Madsen has already been discussed thoroughly.

The others are your classic “good mid major coach” looking to step up.

Cooley, Jones and Jones are AA, FWIW

Fun fact: Pasternack is Roxy Bernstein’s BIL
