Alright, here is the hoops recruiting notes thread for January. The December notes thread is here in case you missed anything there.
The big thing to look for right now on the men's hoops side is the impending decision of 2023 4-star point guard Kanaan Carlyle. Dan McDonald got a bite of information that indicated Stanford is in front for Carlyle and Christian Clemente of Auburn Rivals switched his FutureCast to Stanford. Based on what McDonald and Clemente told me combined with what I already knew made me feel comfortable enough to put in a Future Cast to Stanford, and then on December 30th, Jamie Shaw in our network put in a Future Cast for Stanford as well. So all signs are pointing to the Cardinal.
Other 2023 names to keep an eye on for men's hoops is 4-star small forward Wesley Yates, 4-star shooting guard Finley Bizjack, 4-star power forward Cade Phillips, 4-star power forward Bron Roberts, and 4-star center Carter Lang who visited in October for the Washington football game, but hasn't been offered yet. They'll likely look to add one guy who isn't as highly rated. And that could come down to need. Point guard Dalen Davis, power forward Mitchell Holmes, and small forward Nolan Winter are three guys unranked who have been offered. So those are three names to keep an eye on.
This isn't the entire 2023 offers list obviously, but this e are the key names standing out to me at this stage.
For 2024, 4-star small forward Liam McNeeley is the lone offer they have put out right now.
On the women's basketball side, they're already off to a great start with Nunu Agara and Courtney Ogden committed for 2023. Other 2023 names to keep an eye on are guard Ashlynn Shade, forward Delaney Thomas, guard JuJu Watkins, and wing Samantha "Sammie" Wagner.
For 2024, Stanford is looking at guard Mikalya Blakes, forward Joyce Edwards, guard Olivia Olson, guard Tajianna Avant-Roberts, and guard/forward Jordan Lee. And then for 2025, Jasmine "Jazzy Davidson" and forward Sienna Betts, Lauren Betts' younger sister.
