Hey guys, I just caught up with Collin Wright about why he chose Stanford, what he hopes to bring to The Farm, etc. Below are key quotes. The rest will be saved for the article.
"I wanted the opportunity to experience signing day in February with my teammates like I dreamed of doing growing up. I wanted to sign with all of my family and friends there and have a big celebration. That was pretty much it. Four of my teammates that signed in December were all graduating so they had no choice but to sign early. Had I signed in December and waited to celebrate in February, it would not have felt the same."-On why he delayed his signing until February
"My speed, tackling ability, ball skills, and creating turnovers. That’s the plan. I think my overall game. On and off the field being a great teammate. Being a leader. I’m a big constructive criticism guy. I’m gonna be straight up. The ability for me to receive constructive criticism and give it. We need to be advocate for each other so we can be a good position group and be on the same page. Football wise, my speed, tackling ability, ball skills, awareness and IQ for the game."-On his strengths
"I like the City of Palo Alto. Beautiful city. The scenery there is very nice. The palm trees, beaches, and the mild weather and the climate year round. It’s not something I see in Texas. Of course the academics and football program. One of few high academic institutions that can offer a competitive football program. Stanford is a world class institution. The combination of academics and athletics is second to none. It’s an opportunity you don’t get every day and I couldn’t pass it up."-On Stanford as a whole
"I like his coaching style. Just his track record of sending guys to the league. He knows what it takes. On my visit we had a film session that was good. Watching my film, [he pointed out] some false steps I was taking. Just the little things. My eye discipline and taking a false step could be the difference between getting a pick and giving up a completion. The way he develops players is special. I believe playing for him gives me a great opportunity to develop for the next level."-On Duane Akina
"Management Science and Engineering and/or Communication is what I want to major in. In the future I want to start my own business. Whether it’s business management or entrepreneurship, there are lots of different paths you can take. Public speaking is a passion of mine. I’m a believer in God and a Christian. Being able to share my faith with my platform is special to me. I also want to be a broadcaster. Majoring in Communication would give me a chance to do either of those as a career."-On what he wants to study
