So, I'm watching the debacle that is the Oregon game (well, Q2, anyway), and I’m typing up an email to my law school buddies at halftime to effect of “World can no longer ignore what I’ve been saying for years – namely, that Shaw is a horrible coach.” Anyway, as I’m typing the email, I get two texts from people I haven’t heard from in ages – but they know I’m a Stanford alum, longtime football fan, am part of an excellent tailgating crew . . . you know, basic Cardinal football die-hard.
The first one is from a HS buddy who says: “What happened to Stanford football?”
The second is from a guy I played adult league softball with 10 years ago, and he says: “Stanford is god awful!”
And that perfectly captures how even those who don’t give a fig about Stanford football are embarrassed for the kids, the school, and the fans.
Thank you very little, David Shaw. You single-handedly have killed this program.
And for the love of God, please resign.
