Since 2019, Jordan Fox has started in 21 games for us.
Stat Line: 1 sack
You read that correctly - 1 sack in 21 games as a starter. That is absolutely abysmal for a veteran OLB that's counted on to produce a pass rush. Forget living up to Party in the Backfield standards; that would be a mediocre stat line for a blitzing DB.
When we look around and try to assess where things went wrong the last three years, I think one of the glaring shortcomings of this program is that Shaw tends to hand the starting job over to his most veteran players even when their on-the-field performance fails to validate the decision. And for every Jordan Fox, there's a Jack West and Ethan Bonner. It's pretty insane to me that the program has not invested more in analytics because if they did, I have a feeling we'd be seeing a lot less 5th year players who have done little to warrant their starting job.
