Stanford WR commit J.J. Arcega-Whiteside put together a solid week at the Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas.

Rivals ranked him as the No. 2 player on the South Carolina team in today's game, during which Arcega-Whiteside had several long receptions and a touchdown catch.

"With his size and speed, Arcega-Whiteside is made to be a deep threat down the field. On a couple of occasions on Saturday the Stanford commit got behind the defense, first on a 49-yard reception that he pulled down after a brief juggle and second on a 29-yard touchdown catch in the fourth quarter. The former basketball player knows how to high point the ball and does a great job of using his size to box out defenders in 50/50 situations."

Stanford commit struggled a little bit catching the ball consistently earlier in the week, but looked very good on Wednesday. He showed an ability to get open deep, and appears to be a favorite target of Bryant's With all the work he got on Wednesday. I fully expect Arcega-Whiteside to be heavily involved in Saturday's offensive game plan."

12/16: (Arcega-Whiteside No. 6 top performer from South Carolina team): "Arcega-Whiteside may not be a burner, but he is very sure-handed. He caught a number of back-shoulder fades and curl routes. Arcega-Whiteside created separation by running good routes and using his big frame to box out defenders. His best play came on a deep route down the middle where he made an over-the-shoulder catch with a defender hanging all over him."

Arcega-Whiteside did not make Rivals' list of top performers from Monday's practice, the first of Shrine Bowl week.
