It's not every day that a double Stanford legacy emerges as a Power 5 conference recruit, but that's the case for 2016 Campolindo OL Sterling Strother. Both of his parents attended Stanford as undergrads, he's been to campus "dozens of times," has a reported 4.3 GPA/32 ACT, and has offers from the likes of Cal, Utah, Kansas, and several Ivy League schools.
Here's his Rivals profile.
Stanford has shown a bit of interest, but nothing too serious so far, though that could of course change.
The potential interesting twist here is that, unprompted, Sterling told me that he's very open to the possibility of coming in as a walk-on. And, with his legacy status and high academic marks, he'd be very admissible as both a scholarship and walk-on recruit.
So, given Stanford's need for OL in this class and the above information, he'll be someone to keep an eye on moving forward. I'll probably touch base for a more thorough interview/story sometime next week.
