Twenty-four fantastic new Cardinal freshmen have been on The Farm for one month now, enrolled in their first Stanford classes (two) and training in the team’s summer strength & conditioning program (eight hours/week). Academically and athletically, our freshmen are making adjustments to new standards and challenges at Stanford, and this summer is an invaluable opportunity to get their feet under them before the fall season and quarter arrive. Below, the Cardinal freshmen answer a couple important questions:

What has been the hardest thing at Stanford so far?
“Adjusting to doing more out of class work to be successful in a class.” – DT Bo Peek (Tampa, Fla.)

“Learning my way around campus, so I’ve decided to take more bike rides to explore.” – OLB Jordan Fox (Plainfield, N.J.)

“Opening my mind to realize that not knowing the answer is okay. Once I came to terms with this, I’ve asked more questions and sought out help.” – CB/S Treyjohn Butler (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.)

“The taxing workouts. I have really kept my body in the best state through food, sleep and stretching, which has helped on these early morning workouts.” – LS Richard McNitzky (San Antonio, Texas)

“Definitely managing time effectively. I’ve been improving this by planning out my day on paper every night.” – QB K.J. Costello (Coto de Caza, Calif.)

“Adjusting to such a busy schedule and being able to dictate my own schedule.” – OLB Curtis Robinson (Irvine, Calif.)

“Catching up with the current players in quality of work and conditioning” – DE Thomas Schaffer (Vienna, Austria)

What has been the most enjoyable thing at Stanford so far?“Getting back out on the field, being around the guys, back into pressure situations, working at our crafts and being able to join a true brotherhood.” – K/P Jet Toner (Honolulu, Hawaii)

“How welcoming the upperclassmen are. They all look out for our best interest and help us with our questions.” – TE Scooter Harrington (Riverside, Conn.)

“The campus and the lifestyle. I really enjoy the beauty of this place.” – S Andrew Pryts (Hermitage, Pa.)

“Meeting students from all over the world.” – TE Kaden Smith (Flower Mound, Texas)

“My ‘Ethical Gangster’ class (English 67N).” – OG Nate Herbig (Kalaheo, Hawaii)

“Coach Turley’s training has allowed me to finally grasp ‘mind over matter.’ I love the challenges he puts us through, and I love how tight the team is.” – WR Paxton Segina (Austin, Texas)

“The weather and spending time with my teammates. Building relationships is the key to building a successful team.” – OG Dylan Powell (New London, Mo.)
