[Inspired by the Tiger Bachmeier commitment thread, but thinking about our experiences with Isiah Brandt-Sims and Caleb Bowman Type 1 burner WRs as well as Type 2 Drew Terrell, Trenton Irwin, Griff/Ryan Whalen possession WRs]

So let's assume you are a recruiter/WR coach at a mid-tier P5 program that does not have a high generic appeal to 5-star HS WRs who appear to be on a fast-track to the NFL. Let's also assume you are largely fishing in the 3-star pool, with occasional access to 4-stars. In that 3-star pool there are a bunch of two very different types of players. Which of these two types do you place more emphasis in your recruiting efforts?

Type 1 - SPARQ freak with high athleticism, but unproven hands, due in part to a HS team that emphasized the run. Very few HS catches, but a great track and field resume, burner/elusiveness ability to run back kickoffs and punts for TDs, etc.

Type 2 - Incredible hands, huge numbers when it comes to catches, yards and TDs. Average athleticism. Above average height for a WRs. Not a burner per se, but has a knack for always getting open in HS and never seems to drop the ball.

Which is your preference? I'm guessing you would like to see a blend of the two in each class, but what should be your bread and butter target type?
