Just by chance I was with him last week. One evening we were at a dinner with 20 or so people, but because he does not speak Spanish, he and I sat at the end of the table and spoke in English for a couple of hours while the others ate and socialized in Spanish.
It was a a wonderful evening for me as I got to hear his thinking on this, the NFL, Wisky Football, Ohio HS Football, growing up with 5 brothers and 1 sister, etc. (BTW, played in the same league with Kuechly, so the two best 09 LBs are both out of the same league in Ohio.)
This is a very very high quality, thoughtful, soft spoken young man.
BTW, he brought up an issue which at some point I will start a thread on, and that is the culture of the NFL. And he said something I think that encapsulates it all, but at the same time was very flattering for Shayne.
Shayne and he a good friends at this point.
Said, when Shayne went to Tampa, that he was lonely. While he was friendly with the others on the team, didnt really make any friends implying that he didnt have much in common with them. And that he was very excited when Shayne came back. It was both interesting and a thoughtful thing to say.
Good article, with a video clip of him speaking on the subject.
