I was in Colorado last week checking in with some of the state's top prospects and got to see 2017 four-star QB Dylan McCaffrey, a Stanford recruit, in action on Friday night.
McCaffrey, the brother of Christian, didn't have the greatest night, getting picked off twice late, but there were more good moments than there were bad. He got the ball out quickly from the shotgun and looked like a good game manager who doesn't try to do too much when the football is in his hands.
The dual-threat prospect set his feet well on the zone read and also appeared to be very comfortable throwing on the run and rolling out to both sides. If there was a knock is that he took his share of those -- even when he pulled the ball back, he was left exposed but, to his credit, McCaffrey stayed in there and took hits while trying to complete passes.
On the recruiting front, McCaffrey wants to take in games at Duke, Michigan, Stanford and UCLA this season. He visited each of those programs this summer.
McCaffrey and those close to him have said in the past that the presence of Christian at Stanford won't be a deciding factor in his college decision.
