I've been able to make some calls and have several updates to pass along.

First, a favor to ask. I know that information from our site - and all recruiting sites, for that matter - does filter out off the board. It happens everywhere, and I've never been one to police it too closely. I would ask, however, that folks do try to make an effort to keep the information we report on this board here - or, at minimum, at least attribute it to our site if it is posted elsewhere. Spreading paywalled notes/information elsewhere devalues our work and hurts our business. Selfishly, I really enjoy covering Stanford and working for Rivals, and preserving the premium nature of our message board content helps our site succeed and grow.

Thanks for your understanding and support, and as always, feel free to email me with any questions or concerns.

Now, moving on to the latest Stanford developments. There's both good and bad here. First, the bad.

-It does not sound like it's going to work out with Christopher Frederick, the potential mystery visitor we had discussed who was committed to Syracuse. Both of those guys were possibilities to visit this weekend, but now they will end up elsewhere. To be clear, though, while Frederick was someone Stanford pursued late in the recruiting cycle, I would not say it was indicative of any concerns with the other DB's. It might have been somewhat related to Arrington Farrar getting denied, but it was by no means a panic move or anything of the sort. He's a good player and Stanford would have had room for him.

-Now for the good news. There's a very realistic chance Stanford sweeps with the remaining 2015 recruits on the board: Quenton Meeks, Gabe Reid and Justin Reid.

-Quenton Meeks will announce his decision on Signing Day, and there is significant confidence that Stanford will land him from a variety of sources on all ends of this. Things could always change, but the Cardinal is in a good spot.

-Stanford is in a good spot for recent interview. There's always a degree of concern when a prospect has official visits remaining - and BYU can be convincing (case in point: Uriah Leiataua, who flipped to BYU following a late official visit) - but Stanford is in a good spot to withstand that trip and earn Reid's commitment. He is expected to announce his decision on Monday.

-Finally, despite Justin Reid's connections to LSU and the fact that he is taking an official visit there this weekend, Stanford is actually in a good spot with him as well. You never know what could happen on that visit, especially because it's not clear LSU really wants him, but I think it would be accurate to term the Cardinal as the team to beat at this point. Stanford has a lot going for it here. Eric Reid wants him there, Duane Akina's a terrific DB's coach, his mother spends time working in the Bay Area, there's a comfort level with the other recruits in this class (especially Bryce Love - they're good friends), Stanford's academics are appealing, and so on. Reid is announcing on Signing Day, and I currently like the Cardinal's chances, pending the LSU trip. I do think it's either Stanford or LSU at this point.

-Nothing new to report on the Brennan Scarlett front. Nothing has changed from our previous update - it's still a legitimate possibility, but nothing is done yet.
